Kathleen E. Walsh

Kathleen E. Walsh, age 87, of Dubuque, IA, completed her earthly journey on May 20, 2024, at home, while surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Kathleen’s life, a private family graveside service will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Kathleen’s family.

Kathleen was born on January 29, 1937, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to William and Loretta (Finn) Donahue.  She was gifted with a kind and loving soul which desired peace, joy and love in all aspects of life.  Kathleen was married to the love of her life, John M. Walsh, for many wonderful years and they were blessed with six children along the way to love and adore together.  Sadly, John was called home ahead of her in 2009 and Kathleen’s heart felt his absence through each day until she has finally joined him again, only now to never be separated again.  Kathleen spent her career with the Iowa Department of Human Services faithfully watching over others and making sure that their needs were provided for wherever possible.  Her love for others was continually on display both at work and home and her goal of being kind to others was met fully as each opportunity presented itself.  She had a joyful spirit as well and it was quite common to find Kathleen singing and dancing as she always tried to live life in her happy place, and her sense of humor was always waiting in the wings as well for those around her to enjoy.  It’s truly a lesser world today without Kathleen’s bright light shining among us.  We can only hope and pray that the legacy of love which she leaves behind will help to comfort our heavy hearts moving forward as we seek peace from the pain of her absence.  Thank you, Kathleen, for striving diligently to make the world a better place and may your eternity be abundantly full of peace and love until we all meet again.

Steve, Kevin, Sue, Pam and Greg;

her twelve grandchildren,

Jessica, Heather, Nicole, Amber , Melanie, April, Tyler, Allysa, Hannah, Danielle, Julie and Joey;

her six great-grandchildren,

Paisley, Naomi, Aaron, Ashton, Anna and Alice;

along with numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John M. Walsh; and her daughter, Linda.

Kathleen’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque for all of their professional and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, a Kathleen E. Walsh memorial fund has been established.
