Linda J. (Hartshorn) Markee

Linda J. (Hartshorn) Markee

Linda J. (Hartshorn) Markee, age 73, of East Dubuque, IL, completed her earthly journey suddenly on November 3, 2024, at MercyOne in Dubuque.  To honor Linda’s life, a private family Celebration of Life is being held.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Linda’s family.

Linda was born on June 28, 1951, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to Wardie and Jane (Francois) Hartshorn.  She was gifted with a kind and loving soul which she carried faithfully throughout her entire life.  Linda eventually met the love of her life, Ron Markee, and the two were blessed with many wonderful years together and a family of their own to love and nurture along the way.  Linda spent her working hours outside of the home as a waitress on the Diamond Jo Casino, and as a stocker at Walmart.  She made countless friends and always enjoyed visiting and helping everyone to have fun while they were in her care.  But, for those who knew and loved Linda most, it was no secret that her heart was most content and satisfied at home surrounded by her family.  Creating a loving and comfortable environment was a priority in her home and when the holidays were in season, you could be sure that her home was going to be decorated to the nines.  Linda treasured each day, and when family and friends were nearby, nothing could be greater in her heart and mind.  It’s with heavy sadness and heartache that we must face the days ahead without Linda’s light and love around us.  Thanksgiving and Christmas will undeniably be quite a bit dimmer this year and we can only pray that her spirit living on within our lives will help to lift the darkness we feel.  Thank you, Linda, for keeping life simple and teaching us all that the most important things in life could never be purchased in a store, but rather are the moments we have to gather with those we love.  May the Lord bless and keep you securely in His grace-filled arms until we all get to see your beautiful smile once again.
