Cynthia J. “Cindy” Long

Cynthia J. “Cindy” Long, age 70, of Dyersville, IA, peacefully passed away on December 29, 2024, at home while surrounded by her loving family.  To honor Cindy’s life, a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1623 20th Avenue S.E. in Dyersville, IA.  Family and friends are invited to join in fellowship from 1:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Cynthia’s family.

Cindy was born on December 19, 1954, in Wausau, WI, a daughter to Elmer L. and Cornelia C. (Easker) Stefl.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and always took time to enjoy all that was good in this life.  Cindy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Greg R. Long, on August 3, 1974, in Dubuque, IA.  They were blessed with two children of their own to love and nurture until he sadly passed away ahead of her on December 30, 2009.  Cindy faithfully spent her years in the working world with Eagle’s County Market, and most recently in the deli department at Hy-Vee.  She took great pride in her efforts and always brought her warm personality and quick wit to the table with everyone she met.  Cindy understood quite clearly that life was simply a reflection of how we face it and with her kind and gentle spirit always on display, life was good.

In her free-time, Cindy enjoyed spending time with her family whenever possible and never passed up the opportunity to do a little entertaining with friends as well.  An evening of cards or various games while sitting around the table with loved one’s was Cindy happy place indeed, and if her beloved cats were settled at her feet throughout, nothing could be better.  Catching up on the events in the lives of those around her while enjoying a few laughs was all Cindy required to consider her day a perfect one.  She also found pleasure in looking for a good deal when time allowed and if a secondhand store or a flea market were nearby you could be sure that she was going to give them a thorough once over.  Cindy was a talented decorator as well and her skills and natural ability in the interior design department were always on display for all to enjoy.  Cindy was also very capable in the kitchen and found great satisfaction in creating delicious dishes for her family and friends to partake in.  Her deserts were legendary and many moments which will be remembered moving forward had a table set with Cindy’s favorite meals waiting to be served.

It’s difficult to imagine how we’ll manage to navigate the days and years ahead without our sweet and kind Cindy leading the way.  She fought her courageous health battles with determination, but we sadly accept that those too must end.  Thank you, Cindy, for spreading so much love generously throughout your 70 years among us and may peace be yours now as we wait patiently to see your beautiful smile once again.
