Albert A. “Al” Hoist, Jr.

Albert “Al” Hoist, Jr. age 61, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on March 14, 2025, at home while surrounded by his loving family.  To honor Al’s life, his Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Denny’s Lux Club, 3050 Asbury Road in Dubuque.  Al’s family is honored to invite all who knew and loved him to join in fellowship with them in saying Farewell for Now to our beloved brother and friend.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Al’s family.

Al was born on April 28, 1963, in Maquoketa, IA, a son to Albert and Anna Mae (McGrath) Hoist.  He was blessed with a reserved and generous spirit which valued the simple moments in life whenever possible.  But, rest assured, when the time was right, Al’s infectious humor was lingering just beneath the surface ready to strike at a moment’s notice.  Al invested his time and talents with Burger King and made countless friends along the way.  His attention to detail and strong work ethic were continually on display for all to see. 

In his free-time, Al was always up to the challenge of completing his next puzzle.  His patience, coupled with a relentless determination pushed him faithfully through each opportunity to bring the final goal to life.  He also treasured venturing to Des Moines to spend a little quality time with his sister and nephews.  Family was a priority in Al’s life and all who knew and loved him were quite aware that his love and devotion were unwavering and true till the end.  It’s heart-breaking to have to face the reality that Al has been called home ahead of us now.  His love and light were sincere and the world will surely be a lesser place without his presence within it.  Thank you, Al, for living the good life without regrets and always reminding us that life only has to be as complicated as we ultimately choose to make it.  May your eternal reunion be a joyous one indeed and may the Lord grant you all the peace you deserve until we see your genuine smile once again.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gary Duccini.
