Anthony F. “Tony” Liberato

Anthony F. “Tony” Liberato

Anthony F. “Tony” Liberato, age 81, of East Dubuque, IL, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, completed his earthly journey on October 5, 2024, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, IA.  To honor Tony’s life, a private family service is being held.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Tony’s family.

Tony was born on July 28, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son to Vincenzo and Catherine (Guadano) Libererto.  He honorably served his county with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  Tony eventually met and married his soul-mate, Rita Neupauer and the couple began their life together as he worked on his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting at Pace University.  Tony faithfully invested his time and talents with both The Liro Group and Goldman Sachs before moving into retirement due to health issues.

Tony and Rita made their way to the Dubuque area in 2016 to be closer to family and he was thankfully able to enjoy many hours on the new golf courses around him.  Tony was also an avid reader, especially when it came to mystery/suspense novels and a quiet evening in his comfortable chair was always a welcomed occurrence when possible.  He and Rita also enjoyed getting in a little salt water deep fishing when they lived in New York and spent many weekends taking friends out to compete for the largest catch of the day.  But, those who knew Tony best always knew that he was a dog lover at heart and even attempting to count the rescues, specifically greyhounds when available, that resided in their home would be a difficult task indeed.  Tony possessed a kind and caring soul at his inner being and whether it was being spread lovingly upon his family and friends, or on the latest canines who needed a warm and safe home, Tony always knew that his generosity and gentleness was making a difference in the world around him.

We will miss Tony more than words could possibly depict accurately and are forever grateful for the 81 years the Lord was kind enough to share Tony with us, but we can only lean into the abundance of wonderful memories he leaves behind now as we wait patiently to see his content and joyful smile once again.  Thank you, Tony, for being the kind of man we all needed in our lives and we will treasure every single memory which remains until the end of time.
