Perry S. Pickel

Perry S. Pickel

Perry S. Pickel, age 59, of Dubuque, IA, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2025.  To honor Perry’s life, a private family service will be held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque.  Entombment will be in the Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Perry’s family.

Perry was born on February 13, 1965, in Dubuque, IA, son to Kenneth and Elizabeth (Burbach) Pickel.  He was naturally gifted with an entrepreneurial spirit and a zest for life, which when coupled with his strong work ethic and love for family and friends, Perry was able to make the most of each day that was presented to him.  He attended Southwestern High School in Hazel Green and took great pride in sharing his time and talents on the football field.  Perry always enjoyed being outdoors and loved to grill. Many memories were made on the River of Lakes in Bagley, the Mississippi River and at Apple Canyon Lake.  When Perry was taking advantage of his free-time while surrounded by his family and friends, all was right with the world.

Perry was honored to be able to coach his son’s baseball teams when they were young and even with running multiple businesses, he continually made time for his family a priority.  He was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan and never turned down the opportunity to give a Bears fan a hard time.  Perry was also a committed Euchre player and not only was he a loyal partner at the table, but he was always good for a couple of tricks when necessary.  Perry was a reserved man by nature, but if a little socializing with the neighbors was on the agenda for the day, he was sure to embrace the moments and make sure that his quality time was always time well spent.  It’s difficult to imagine a world moving forward without Perry’s bright light shining among us.  His sudden absence is almost more than our hearts can bear and we pray that in time both peace and comfort will find their way into our minds.  Thank you, Perry, for leading by example, living life on your terms, and for simply being you.  May the Lord bless and keep you safe in His loving arms as we now wait patiently to see your sincere and joyful smile again in time.

I met Perry nearly 3 years ago. And in that short time I can’t count the amount of times he helped me out in some way or another. Perry was truly a one of a kind type of person with a huge forgiving heart. He will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to his entire family and the many friends who will feel this loss so deeply for so long.

  3. Jeffrey Cue says:

I worked with Perry through the Hampton Inn as he did our plowing and lawn care. We kept in touch over the years with my new employment. We talked about apartment rentals, kids and grandkids, he will be sadly missed by all. My sympathies to the family and friends.
