William T. “Boots” Turnmeyer

William T. “Boots” Turnmeyer, age 63, of Dubuque, IA, completed his earthly journey on November 1, 2024, at the Harmony Nursing Home in Dubuque.  To honor William’s life, a private family burial will be held at the Dubuque Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving William’s family.

William was born on June 10, 1961, a son to William J. and Darlene M. (Schulz) Turnmeyer.  He believed in living an easy-going lifestyle completely free of conflict whenever possible.  William was a store manager at Zayre’s in Dubuque in the early 80’s until tragedy struck when he was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1984.  This life altering moment changed everything for William and his life moving forward was never the same.  He fought a long and courageous battle over the years and continually made the most out of each day as it presented itself.  He had always had an affinity for motorcycles and classic Chevy’s, especially the Impala and Chevelle. Whenever he had the opportunity to be near them, and hopefully bring his mechanical skills to the table, you could be sure that the vehicle was soon going to be performing on a much better level when William was done.  Life was not going to be overly complicated if William could help it and understanding where the simple joys in life could be found was key.  We will miss William more than he could possibly know and we are forever grateful for each and every memory he leaves behind now to help us find some moments of peace and comfort in the midst of his physical absence moving forward.  Thank you, William, for reminding us that every day is a gift and we should do our best to consider that reality from time to time.  We will carry your legacy in the depths of our hearts and minds and can only pray that you are now free from your earthly battles in the loving hands of our Savior as we wait patiently to see you once again.

William was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and his canine companion, Buddy.
